Though a clear intention is all we really need to move awareness in the heart, we can make the move all the easier by engaging our imagination. Three visualizations suggested by author Melissa Joy Johnson can be quite useful. Try one of these when you need a little push.
- Elevator into the heart. When you are stuck in your head, take an elevator down to your heart. Simply feel your awareness riding an elevator down and opening the doors in the region of your heart. It sounds almost too simple, but I often notice a change in my perceptions will follow.
- Web of Light. Imagine a beam of light that connects your heart to others. This not only helps to redirect your awareness to your heart, but it also helps you to focus on the part of others that is not their ego. The heart is the seat of the Soul, and by focusing on another’s heart, you perceive them at a deeper level.
- Bubble of light. This is my favorite. When I am faced with any kind of difficulty, whether it be a person or a situation, I place the object of my difficulty in a bubble of light. The bubble is projected from my heart, and whatever goes into it can be seen clearly. Ego perceptions cannot enter into it. What follows this visualization is a sense of ease around a situation. I know what I have to do, or in most cases, that I don’t have to do anything at all. Everything is fine just the way it is.
