So how many times do we have to pray for a miracle to ensure that the Spirit will do just that – come through? In her book Illuminata, Marianne Williamson states as many times as it takes to convince the mind to let go. To create a miracle, we do not have to get down on bended knee and pray until they bleed unless that is what our minds require. A miracle is driven by our faith, not our sacrifice. When we can train our minds to have total faith in the Spirit, then miracles are as close to us as our own intentions.
If we find we have trouble letting go of worry, one of the following exercises may be helpful. The idea behind them is to give the Mechanical Mind permission to let go of the job of fulfilling an intention by convincing it that the Spirit has assumed responsibility for it.
- Write down the worry and put it in a “God box.” Everything in the God box is the responsibility of the Spirit.
- Write down the worry and burn it. Imagine the smoke from the ashes carrying the intention to the Spirit.
- Invoke a simple mantra to counter worry. It may be something as simple as “The Spirit is in charge of finding me a solution.”
