Radiating the energy of love is best demonstrated in our willingness to see another without the overlay of a heavy ego. Good deeds are great, but nothing says love like total acceptance. When we accept another without reservation, we are not condoning their actions, rather, we are holding firm to what we know them to truly be – an exquisite reflection of the Creator itself. Think of it in regards to how we view children. A four year-old might throw a temper tantrum when she does not get her way, but we do not confuse her behavior for who she is. To adults, especially her parents, she is still a glorious creation. Her behavior does not meet with animosity, but with an attitude of patience, gentleness, and wisdom. This is the attitude we seek to demonstrate for all of creation. In doing so, we mimic the attitude of the Spirit and aid it in its plan to unite with the Soul.
In our acceptance of others, we are not only supporting the journey of others Souls but also of our own by opening our eyes to the Spirit in its many forms. When we choose to support the journey of the Soul, we lend our minds to its development. Our minds are animated by it rather than our ego. Light flows through us. Our thoughts become dynamic, inspired, and supported by the Universe. We create at a higher frequency, and thus see our thoughts manifest quicker as a result. These are the qualities of the Miracle Mind, and ours to possess when we align with the intentions of our Soul.
The patience the Spirit shows toward one Soul is the same patience it shows toward all souls. It doesn’t favor one over the other. Nor does it favor the path of education that each chooses to take. After all, every incarnation is a piece of a bigger picture – that of creation. To the Spirit, every path the Soul chooses to travel is a good one, whether it be in the steps of a madman or those of a saint. Every form that it takes is sacred; each brimming with insight. Each and every Soul has a legitimate claim to be right where it is, learning, as it may be, knee deep in mistakes.
It is our mind’s lack of recognition of the Soul, and its mission, that causes us to judge the paths of others so harshly. We count their mistakes against them like they really mean something in the big scheme of things. But from a spiritual perspective, mistakes are a valued commodity because they lead to insight. Each represents a sign post, of which without them, a Soul would never find its way home. A Soul that has witnessed a ton of mistakes through its incarnations is a rich Soul indeed. It indicates that it has traveled many roads to get to where it is at and has gained much wisdom along the way. “All roads lead to Rome” as the saying goes. In the case of the Soul, they all lead to higher consciousness.
Every Soul is on a mission to grow in consciousness through its experiences in physical form. It carefully plans these experiences by choosing the form in which it will manifest. Each form it takes is meant to give it insight into creation, since creation is the means by which it will come to know the Spirit intimately. If it is ignorant of a particular aspect of creation, it will choose to manifest in a body that will help it to understand it. You may have heard the saying you cannot judge a man until you have walked a mile in his shoes. Well, for the Spirit, that mile is a lifetime, perhaps many lifetimes in similar creations. In this way, the process of incarnation is just one big education for the Soul. And the experiences that it selects are the degree plan that it follows to achieve higher consciousness.
It is not that the Soul has to learn to overcome its ego. The Soul has no ego, and therefore, does not have to overcome pride or jealousy or any of the other trappings that our mind has created. However, the Soul faces the challenge of having to learn to identify itself in all of creation. The experiences it chooses, therefore, are designed to draw it into creation. It may take many, many incarnations to identify itself in the faces of so many, but its education is not on a timetable. The Universe provides it all the time and space it needs to accomplish its mission. And the Spirit, which created the Soul and set it free in the cosmos, doesn’t seem all that worried about time either. It waits patiently for the Soul to reach its maturity, assured by the energy of love that drives it. And so, like any good parent, the Spirit watches and waits and supports its creation until its education is complete.
The soul is our authentic self. Born of Spirit, it seeks to become aware of itself as Spirit through its multiple incarnations. Each incarnation offers a new view of the Spirit. Each one offers a different experience that contributes to its awareness. Your life is one of these experiences, a piece of the puzzle you might say. It helps the Soul to construct a picture of itself as Spirit. Eventually, the Soul will have collected enough pieces of the puzzle to have a complete picture, and when it does, it will have raised its level of consciousness to that of the Spirit and know itself as one with it.
Since the Spirit exists in everything, the Soul’s picture of itself must also include everything before it will be made whole. Its picture remains fragmented until it does. Incarnation after incarnation expands the picture. The Soul grows in compassion and understanding for each of the physical forms that it takes. But the Soul also gains compassion and understanding for those with whom it comes into contact. These are the people that surround us – our relationships. Through these, the Soul has more opportunities to grow in consciousness. Thus, it is not just its incarnation that helps it know itself as Spirit, but all those it touches in a lifetime.
The energy that drives the Soul to seek wholeness is love. Love is the energy out of which it was created. Love compels the Soul onto higher consciousness. It ensures the Soul’s evolution. While we may be accustomed to thinking of love in terms of a mushy emotion, it is actually anything but. Love is the strongest force there is. It is better symbolized by steel than a box of gooey chocolates. (Keep that in mind when shopping for your Valentine.) It permeates every corner of the Universe. Literally, you cannot turn over a rock without finding it.
The Soul is magnetized by the energy of love in other forms of creation. Have you ever been caught in love’s embrace when staring at a sunset? That wasn’t your mechanical mind that made you sit up and take notice. That was your Soul’s recognition of an energy that resonated with it. With each recognition, the Soul expands the picture it set out to construct. Its grows in consciousness not only through complex relationships, but also in simple observations like watching a sunset.
